2018/09/11 - Tuesday & a few days following
Hill’s - Red Wing, MN
Finally made it! It’s great to see everyone. The first day I just rested. They have made a really nice bedroom for me out of their basement den. Although they call it the basement, it’s actually the first floor of their home. In addition to the really comfortable air mattress bed which they’ve put in temporarily, there’s theatre seating with recliners, and a desk where I’ve been working on my laptop trying to catch up on my blogging.
A couple of evenings we’ve sat out on their back yard deck, enjoying a fire pit and some libations. Andie, Brett and the great-grandkids came over one evening and I got to see Bennett for the first time.
In contrast to his older brother, Jett, who is a red haired ball of perpetual motion, Bennie (also a ginger) is quiet and sober. At 4 months he’s just beginning to come into his own personality. Molly, in her usual scaredy-cat way, doesn’t really know what to make of either of them. She looks like she’s in shell shock most of the time.
They also have a pure white Great Pyrenees who weighs about 120 lbs and stands between your knee and hip. They are bred to be watch dogs, but make great pets if they’re socialized, which Hill and the family have done. Ghost and Molly were mutually afraid of each other which was fascinating to see. They finally have made friends, though, although Molly continues to defend her territory when Ghost drops by.
Problems continue with the coach. More about that later. I’ll probably blog again this evening after watching Scout play her hockey game. Don’t know if I’ll get any good pictures but I’ll try.
Pictures: Lots of pictures! Click here if you want to see them. Pictures of the house, the family and the dogs.

Spiritual Reflection
It’s hard to believe I’m a patriarch...three generations!
I wasn’t a very good father, for which I've repented many times. The pattern goes back at least three generations in the past, so it’s wonderful to see how Hill (and Chris too for that matter) has broken the chain of poor parenting. I’m so proud of the whole clan!
