Checotah KOA - Checotah, OK

Traveled in heavy rain most of the day. Often the big rigs and I were in a convoy at 50 mph, lights flashing and “with those windshield wipers slappin’, Molly and I sang every song those truck drivers knew”….oops. LIstening to too much country music. Sorry. Any way, after rough roads that jarred your teeth (just like I remembered them) I also hit some stretches that were smooth as glass. OK has been at work on their roads, evidenced by lots of construction sites.

Arrived at Checotah mid-afternoon. Rain stopped as I was checking in. Got a nice, wide pull thru. Andrea and I always liked this little campground. Not really anything to write home about, but wide, level gravel sites, Lots of shade trees. And a little restaurant that serves breakfast and supper.

Molly and I made our usual circuit of the campground so she could explore the history residing on every blade of grass, with an occasional squat to let the next visitors know the Texans had been here. A 40’ Tiffin Allegro Bus had parked in the row in front of me, and he and I chatted about our travels and our coaches for a while before Molly and I continued our explorations, leaving a “God Bless” behind.

Decided to eat supper in the little cafe. Although it was cooler outside, with the A/C not working I didn’t want to heat up the coach any more than I had to. Supper menu is nothing extraordinary. The usual hamburgers, chicken fried steak etc...everything that’s not on my diet. While I was eating i talked with the cook and waitress, two young women who were playing cards to pass the time. The desk clerk overheard me saying I was pushing north because of problems with the coach. Turns out he was a certified RV repairman and agreed that I was going to have to have somebody with real diagnostic tools figure out what was going on. But sounded to him like it was either a short or a bad transfer switch...sound familiar??? Everybody thinks so except the RoadTrek emergency phone answerer who told me there wasn’t a transfer switch on my coach, in spite of the fact they included the manual for one in my owner’s packet.

Even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then. I was looking at the weather to see how far north I was going to have to be before it got cooler, Checking Checotah weather for the rain forecast, low and behold, it was going to be in the 60s that night!!! I already had the fans running without much effect, when….duh!...there are windows in the coach! I opened them and during the night it got so cool I had to pull the blanket over my feet.

Pictures - Only took one today that came out. Really disappointed though. At the Oklahoma border rest stop there was a huge chair...about 10 times life size. Put Molly in the seat. Don't know what happened (or didn't happen) but that picture has disappeared from the camera roll.

Spiritual Reflections

Not really anything today except a grateful heart for keeping Molly and me safe on the road today.
