This is one of my favorite campgrounds. Andrea and I stayed here many times. Every site has a view of the lake. All are paved and relatively level. Today I have a site with a covered table. Fortunate, because it’s raining and due to do so all day. Also very hot and humid.
It’s always interesting (an adventure) as how things work out on a trip. Apparently this is going to be just a very extended shakedown trip. I spent the morning going to the grocery store in Grapevine for all the things I’d forgotten, and then on to Best Buy to replace my little blender which decided to die (from heartbreak for lack of use?).
I had planned to stay two days in Grapevine so I could set up the routine for blogging again, but it was so hot without the A/C I changed my mind and just before noon Molly and I pulled up stakes and headed north.
Pictures - Because of the rain and heat I didn’t take any. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
Spiritual Reflection
At Black Rock Park there was a family camping next door with two children. The father sent them over to say they had some ribs left over from their supper if I’d like some. I’d already eaten (a corn dog...pale second to ribs, but….) The children were really well behaved and chattered on about their dogs while they waited for Molly to calm down enough to let them pet her. She’s getting a little better with children but still really skittish, hiding behind my leg while she barks. A few words of encouragement though and she finally acquiesced. The father came over to make sure the children weren’t bothering me. He’s a construction worker from Burnett. They have been at the campground for three weeks while their home is being remodeled. As we parted, I gave my usual “God bless,”.He stopped, turned, and said, “God bless you too.” His son, about 10 or so. Also turned, and said, “God bless you.”
Not very profound, but for just an instant all of us were focused on the Lord. A quiet spiritual exchange. I’d like to think it’s the small things like this that will be the foundation of my new Yonderin’ ministry.
