He’s done it again. I walked up to the little cafe for supper last night, met the most interesting woman and we ate supper together. Traveling solo in her min-Class A with her poodle she was fascinating--full of life and laughter--and so was her story.
Her husband died in 2017. He had always dreamed of taking an RV tour of the US, but “life happened” and they never made it. Now she’s taking that trip in his memory. In her first RV, with only a short shake down cruise under her belt, she’s gone full time, and is handling the usual problems like a pro. Talk about courage!
She may be traveling solo, but, as she says, “...not alone.” Extremely tech savvy she has a blog and stays in touch with a number of friends who are vicariously traveling with her. In addition to her blog, she has an Amazon Alexa wired into her coach, a wireless (not Bluetooth) security camera with voice so she can talk to her dog while she’s out of the coach, and--of course--a wifi and cell phone booster.
She’s just wandering from destination to destination using back roads and stopping when and where it pleases her. From here she’s heading to Carlsbad Caverns and then on to Napa Valley to meet up with a friend. From there? "Who knows?"
As for me, I think I’m feeling a little better each day. I’m delighted the coach is so comfortable because I don’t mind staying here another couple of day to rest up.
After a week on the road I’m going to have to dump my tanks, but that’s an amazing amount of time for essentially dry camping. At each stop I’ve only hooked up to electric--except for adding a little water at Van Horn. I’ll probably stay hooked up to the campground water supply here since I don’t want to have a full water tank sitting in storage after I get home.
Woke up this morning to find winter had returned to West Texas--46 degrees with an expected high of 52! You can bet I’ll be sticking close to the coach today.
Till then…
Thanks for yonderin’ with me.
